How to use Euskeraz.eus to improve your Basque

Euskeraz.eus is not a traditional grammar course for learning Basque from zero. But if you already know the basics, here you can learn Basque in a practical way: read real news, grow your vocabulary, save new words and practise with games. If you want to learn Euskera through real texts, this is a good place to start.

1

Read simple news in Basque

On the homepage and in the categories you will find real news in Basque. Every week we publish several articles, most of them based on news from Argia.eus and adapted for learning purposes.

2

Choose A1, A2 or B1 level

Each article can be read at different levels. This way you can learn Basque at your own pace: simpler texts at A1, richer sentences at A2 and more complete explanations at B1.

3

Click words and save vocabulary

In the articles you can click any word to see its translation. Then you can save that word in your personal dictionary and practise it later.

Learn Basque by using new words, not just memorising them

One of the biggest challenges when learning Basque is activating vocabulary: understanding a word is one thing, but recognising it again in a text and using it naturally is another. That is why the Euskeraz.eus process is very practical: read, click, save and practise.

When you save your words, you can use them in the game zone. The games are smart: the system shows you more often the words that are harder for you or that you do not know well yet. This helps you learn Basque in a more active and personalised way.

You also have exercises to practise verbs, such as Aditz Puzzlea, and other games: Wordle in Basque, Hitz Bikoteak, Hitz Konbinazioa and Hitz Jausia.

Track your progress

On Euskeraz.eus you can measure your learning process. On the progress page you will see your saved words, learned words, read articles and played games.

Learn with the community

Motivation matters too. In the community section you will find ideas, tips and an extra push to keep learning Basque.

Download the app and extensions

You can also use Euskeraz.eus as an Android app. In addition, you have extensions for Chrome, Edge and Firefox to read other pages in Basque, click any word, translate it and save it to your dictionary.
